Toby – you were our Smobes, Bubs, Boo Thang, Fluffy Orange Cat, and Bubbers-a-boo. You were such a beautiful boy & unlike any orange tabby we’d ever seen. Everybody was always drawn to your silky, fluffy fur. You were sweet, snuggly, & undoubtedly the most loving cat (at least to us). You were spicy when it came to everyone else. You often terrified others with your fierceness. We always joked about this & said that you were just channeling your inner lion.
You loved your sisters, especially Jersie & Zoey. You kept them in line, groomed them when they needed it, snuggled them, & were always the first to welcome the newest addition to our family. You gave us all of your love freely & were relentless in your pursuit to be carried, petted, held, or worn like a scarf. It was endearing….and mildly annoying at times. This was also part of what made you so unique. You gave the absolute best snuggles & always seemed to know when we needed them most. Your grumbly, squeaky purrs instantly made things better. You loved being with us all the time, especially during morning coffee & at night.
We keep waiting for you to jump on our laps, have turtle time, scratch at the door, or follow us around the house just as you’ve always done. The tears start to flow when we remember that you’re not here. The house & every part of our day feels so lonely without your vibrant, gentle, loving, & playful personality. You were an amazing cat & you were so loved by us as well as almost everyone who met you (even if you hadn’t been nice to them). Our world feels empty without you in it, but we have found some peace in knowing that you’re up there snuggling with Jersie. Although our hearts are broken, we can’t help but feel blessed to have had you as part of our family for the past 16 years. We will always remember the joy & unconditional love you brought to our lives. We love you so much baby boy & will hold you tightly in our hearts until we get to see you again.
